Isn’t that kind of what Paul did in I Corinthians?
He begins chapter 15 with a clear explanation of the gospel. He moves to the glorious section on the resurrection of Christ and believers. He hits shouting ground as he exults in our victory over sin and death. Then—“Now concerning the collection.”
Talk about killing the meeting!
But the more you think about it the more sense it makes. Isn’t the best motivation for giving the good news about what Christ has done for a lost world? Shouldn’t that message cause us to talk about giving money to get the gospel message from our Jerusalem to the uttermost parts of the earth?
Come to think of it—Easter would be a great time to start a stewardship campaign. Truth is—Easter isn’t over. So let’s talk money!
